Five Festive Awards
Welcome back to the Creative Awards London blog where we showcase our bespoke awards and trophies. Now, as we reach December our thoughts turn to the festive season and the joys of Christmas. The long car journeys to visit relatives, the awkward silence when you realise you are only there because you have to be and the inevitably dry turkey. Don't fear, if you are looking for some festive cheer we've chosen five awards for our alternative Creative Awards London Christmas guide that are sure to turn any Grinch into a veritable George Bailey.
Let's face it, we've all been there, you're invited to a distant relative's place and you don't have anything to say. You sit through the mind numbing conversation as your Auntie bores you with the achievements of your cousin all whilst your Nan falls asleep at the table. How can you avoid this? Well, we think the NME brat award would make the perfect 'Do Not Disturb' sign. Simply place next to your spot at the dinner table and voila! Instantly shut down a conversation before it starts. Or even better, just carry it and hold it aloft when you want to avoid a conversation.
Do you like Christmas carols and Xmas songs? We don't think they're fundamentally bad and there certainly are some gems out there, Fairytale Of New York is a cracker, but if we have to listen to Chris Rea or Mariah Carey we will pull our hair out. Replace the 'Jingle Bells' with some 'Bat Out of Hell', maybe even 'Good King Wenceslas' with some King Crimson? Never fear, our custom award for Rocksound can act as inspiration to save your eardrums this December.
Now, you may think we are all grumpy here at Christmas but that simply isn't the case. We're also like this from January to November. One thing, however, we do love about Christmas is the food. Those short crust mince pies that crumble in your mouth, the endless feasting, cold meats and mashed potato on Boxing Day. We love all of it. We celebrate our love of Christmas food with the Sausage Award and salute the best part of Christmas; pigs in blankets.
Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without a good film and nothing says 'Merry Christmas' more so than Die Hard. A classic that truly captures the meaning of the season. After the inevitable overindulgence at the dinner table we're planning to slump into our cosy sofas and stick on the TV. The Queen's speech, a nice platter of goodies and a glass of something. Well, would you guess it? Maybe we do like Christmas after all.
If it all goes wrong you can always count on one thing; booze. A nice glug of Scottish whiskey can certainly make the world feel better and if the stresses of the Christmas season get too much for you then crack open a bottle, pour yourself a wee dram and just say, "Bah humbug!" to it all.
