A staggeringly beautiful award

A staggeringly beautiful award

We were recently commissioned by a famous Scottish whiskey company to design a custom award for their awards ceremony. The in house awards recognised excellence and achievement within the company.

Scottish whiskey is truly a global success generating an estimated £3.95 billion for the UK balance of trade, roughly £125 per minute! The industry directly supports around 10,000 jobs and is tied to a further 40,000 across the UK. Overall, the Scotch whiskey industry is responsible for over a quarter of all UK food and drink exports representing a vibrant industry, steeped in tradition.

With new markets emerging across Asia and the Middle East, the expansion and growth of the industry shows no signs of slowing down. It is not only these new markets that are seen as vital to the on going success of Scotch whiskey, Europe, North America and India are seen as traditional whiskey drinking markets.

Drawing from age-old tradition and centuries of heritage, we took inspiration from both the iconic company logo and the industry itself. A precision cut copper stag, the beautiful metal is still used within the whiskey stills, rests elegantly upon hand cut sherry barrels, once used to age the whiskey, imparting a delicate, sweet alcohol smell. This gorgeous custom award uses two distinct materials that contrast and compliment each other. The copper, warm, bright with sharp lines, contrasts against the organic, rounded forms of the oak.
